After the first phase of artistic research dedicated to a formal development
linked to freehand drawings, he started to analyze computer graphics
and its application in artistic research.
Time and space themes, analysis of perceptive phenomenon
are the center points of his artistic research developed with mixed media
and several aesthetic solutions.
Installations, videos, projections, statements are just few of the media
he uses to express his personal research that always
seeks to penetrate time and space.
Even if his art was delivered by several different media,
Damiano Paroni has always maintained a peculiar style driven
by a strict sense of space and a maniacal use of the same (black) colour.
His works often consist of a few elements whose interplay can be described
as a silent dialogue. In spite of the complete lack of images
and the frequent use of rigid shapes, the work is never experienced as static.
As soon as our sight is taken over by our feelings we perceive implosions,
distances and depths, all connected by an intimate breath of infinity.
From 1972 he has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions, in private galleries,
and public spaces. He has been reviewed in newspapers and art magazines.
Between 1974/1979, Rosi conducted an in depth study analytically researching
the potential and possibilities of the photographic medium.
From 1978/1980, he dealt with sculpture and reused clay viewing them
as a complementary presence to room installations.
Starting from 1977/1981, he developed a progressive graphic-pictorial study
by inserting words and cartoon strips into his work.
Not to mention that from 1981/1986, he stimulated the visual language of
cultural memory, from figurative to abstract, from gestures to informal,
from irony to drama and brought the vision of the past into the present,
with the use of fluorescent-phosphorescent-metallic materials.
In 1987/1990, he entered more of a design phase, the idea of awareness of space
inside an immediate representation, then assuming a language with a dual value,
combining the place of communication and the object itself as a container of
linguistic materials, in a re-utilisation project, preserving its own poetic material
as a form of self-quotation.
From 1990/1995, he conceptually analysed the work “from the inside” evaluating
the cyclical process, then bringing the contents, with the use of
a plurality of language, from the inside to the outside and vice versa.
The essence was realised through a “dynamic composition”.
From 1996/1997, by means of a conceptual agreement with the organisers
he worked on projects for “opera ambigua-opera obliqua”
defining a process of visiting that was deliberately different.
From 1998/2003, he returned to all of his mediums, from painting to sculpture,
from photography to digital photography and to working on images of
his own work with wall or room installations.
Since 2004, his work has focused on the study of the relationship
between the portrait and the confined space (orange) that encompasses
all significant parts biancosporco (off-white), as a fluid in a unique energy force.
